Cultivating a Culture of Reading with Dollar General Literacy Foundation

I decided to pursue a Dollar General Literacy Foundation Grant, because our school is in close proximity to a Dollar General and to my knowledge, we have not applied for a grant with them before. Researching the statistics needed made me realize how much poverty is present in the district we serve. Networking with teachers, administrators, families, techs, our TIS, and our district facilitator revealed to me that our school is at a prime point for inclusion of the AR 360 program. I included all the required fields to apply for this grant in my document, and plan on actually submitting the proposal later this month.

In regards to Professional Development, our PD would take place during the beginning of next school year, so we would not require funding for subs as students would not yet be present. PD would be provided by an Instructional Technology Coordinator from WVDE; they are experts and are free for districts to use because they are salaried employees. I've already used the program I am requesting funds for at a previous school for 3 years, and I' m excited to have a chance to implement it where I am now.

The DGLF Grant site is easy to navigate and walks you through the process step-by-step. I'd recommend it to any teachers in the neighborhood of a Dollar General seeking support for literacy-based initiatives.

Thank you for posting. I will provide specific feedback in Taskstream. I hope you receive this grant. I received a Dollar General Literacy grant and the process was seamless :)
